Dear Burleigh Manor Middle School Community,
I am thrilled to be writing to you today to introduce myself as the new Principal of Burleigh Manor Middle School! Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to meet some of the staff, student, and parent members of the Burleigh family, and I couldn’t be more excited to join the team. In every conversation, your pride in Burleigh and in our students has shone through. I look forward to listening to your ideas and vision for our school, learning from you about our community, and leading with you as we enter Burleigh’s 26th year together.
I’m coming to Burleigh from Hammond High School, where I spent 3 years as assistant principal. This move to Burleigh represents a return home; as an educator I have spent much of my career at the middle school level. I have a deep respect for these transition years and the unique opportunities we have to work with our students as they develop their confidence and sense of self, and begin to establish goals for their post-high school lives. I also know how valuable these years are from the perspective of a parent; my husband and I have three boys, a 17 year old senior, a 15 year old sophomore, and an 11 year old 7th grader.
I would like to offer a huge thank you to Ms. Roberson for her graciousness, support and assistance over the past couple of weeks. I have appreciated the opportunities to meet the community, and I look forward to continuing to meet with parents, teachers and students to hear about your ideas for Burleigh and to discuss how we can continue to communicate and collaborate over the course of the upcoming school year. Please be on the look-out for scheduled open house meet-and-greets, but also know that our administrative team would love to hear from you at any time this summer and throughout the school year. I can be reached at
mikaela_lidgard@hcpss.org, or at school at 410-313-2507. I look forward to getting to know you and spending time learning about Burleigh from you!
Best wishes,
Mikaela Lidgard
