April 20, 2020

Dear Burleigh families,

Today we will begin our next phase of the distance learning model with middle school students. By 9:00 a.m. today, teachers will post assignments in Canvas. Students will submit work through Canvas by 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2020. Regular class check-ins will follow the schedule below. Teachers will share the meeting time with students via Canvas.

Teachers will only permit students into a Google Meet virtual check-in session if they are using their HCPSS account, as students can be identified through their HCPSS email account. Students (or anyone) trying to access a Google Meet virtual check-in session without an HCPSS email will not be permitted to enter.

Log in correctly for success

Students: Make sure you are logged on with your HCPSS account when you are accessing Googe documents, meetings, and your Canvas account. The easiest way to do this is to start at HCPSS.me.

You won't be able to access documents through Google if you are logged in with a personal email. Teachers will only permit students into a Google Meet virtual check-in session if they are using their HCPSS account, as students can be identified through their HCPSS email account. Students (or anyone) trying to access a Google Meet virtual check-in session without an HCPSS email will not be permitted to enter.

Get Organized

Students: Please take a look at our Organization video posted in your Student Resources Course in Canvas under Announcments. You'll also find a link to the following documents, which can help you stay organized during digital learning. You aren't required to use these tools, and you may find the Canvas Calendar is sufficient to help you stay organized. If not, remember we are here to help! (And remember, you'll need to be logged on to your HCPSS account to access these tools.)

Schedule for the Week

Digital Agenda

Expectations

Parents and Students, as a reminder, the Student Code of Conduct applies to our digital learning setting just as it applies when we are in our building. We trust you, and know that you will represent yourselves, your families, and our school well as we begin this journey together. We trust that you will continue to be kind and to think before you post. Students, an orientation to our Distance Learning expectations can be found in your Student Reources Canvas Course under announcements. You can also review the Student Code of Conduct and the Responsible Use of Technology and Social Media policy if you have any questions or concerns about expectations during our distance learning.

Google Meet Expectations

Please note the following reminders about Google Meet sessions:

Students, you can find the links/name for your check-ins on your teacher's canvas page. Please remember you must be logged in with your HCPSS.me acount to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of all of our community.

Students, you may not share the link to a check in session. Sharing the link violates the confidentiality of your peers and can cause disruptions to the class check-in session. You are responsible for attending only the check-in sessions you have permission to attend.

Parents and guardians, if you have a question or a concern, please email the teacher. Check-in time is for students and their teachers only.
