Back-to-School Night

Thu, 09/07/2017 - 1:31pm

Back-to-School Night is tonight. We look forward to having you visit Burleigh Manor, meet your child’s teachers, and learn more about the classes your child is taking this year. Please review the details below to make the night an enjoyable and successful one for all.

When is Back to School Night?

  • Date: Thursday, September 8
  • Time: 6:00 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.
  • GT Info Session: 5:15 p.m. in the cafeteria (optional)

  • What time should I arrive? We suggest you arrive by 5:50 p.m., as the evening will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. in your child’s period 1 class. Parking is always challenging. We suggest that you carpool if possible.
  • Who should attend? Although they may want to attend, we respectfully request that you come to Back-to-School Night without your child. Space is limited and the hallways will be filled with adults moving in various directions to get to class on time. Don’t worry about getting lost. Staff will be available to help you find your child’s classrooms, so you will not need to bring your student to help guide you. You will also receive a map of the school to help you find your way to classes. Thank you in advance - we appreciate your support!
  • What should I bring? Although we encourage you to bring a copy of your child’s schedule with you, there will be a copy waiting for you in your child’s first period class. All you really need to know when you arrive is your child’s first period teacher and room number. You may want to bring something so that you can take notes if needed.
  • How do I access my child’s schedule? If you want to bring a copy of your child’s schedule, or if you need to confirm your child's period 1 teacher, you can access your child's schedule by visiting, click on SYNERGY, and then click “Class Schedule” from the menu.
  • What should I do when I arrive? When you arrive, please proceed to your child’s period 1 class. Once you arrive, you will receive his/her schedule. If for some reason you are running late, schedules will be available at a help desk in the front entrance at 6:15 p.m.
  • What is the schedule for the evening? The evening will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. in your child’s period 1 class, and will end at 7:45 p.m. While in your child’s period 1 class, you will pick up your child’s schedule, a school map, and the bell schedule for the evening.

GT Parent Information Presentation at 5:15 p.m.

The Middle School Parent Information Presentation for the Gifted and Talented Education Program will be held on September 8 from 5:15 - 5:45 p.m. in the BMMS cafeteria, followed by Back to School Night at 6:00 p.m. This presentation will provide an overview of the Howard County Gifted and Talented Education Program for middle school students, with information on G/T content classes, G/T instructional seminars, and placement. All parents and guardians of students new to the HCPSS are encouraged to attend.

Please contact the school’s G/T Resource Teacher, Ms. Robyn Page, at or 410-313-2507 for more information.
