Placement Process for G/T Content Area Classes for 2017-18

Tue, 01/03/2017 - 11:44am

The middle school placement review process enables the school staff and parents to work together to provide students with the most appropriate educational placement. A placement review may be conducted for students entering grades seven and eight who demonstrate outstanding academic performance but who were not eligible for one or more G/T content area class(es) based on the initial testing criteria. To request a placement review, parents/guardians should write a letter/email to the G/T Resource Teacher requesting a review of the student’s placement(s) for middle school. The letter should provide support for the student’s readiness to enroll in a specific G/T class (social studies, English, science and/or mathematics), including documentation and/or examples of exemplary student performance.
Requests for G/T placement reviews are due to Ms. Robyn Page, the school’s G/T Resource Teacher, by Thursday, January 26, 2017. Please include your child’s first and last name, and current grade level in the request.

If you have questions about the G/T Placement Process or G/T content classes, please contact Ms. Page at Robyn_Page@hcpss.org for further information.
